Three Mile Beach – Guest App.

What we did

We were asked to create an application for guests staying at Three Mile Beach that would enable them to do the following, all via a tablet provided within their beach house:

• Order 'extras' such as pizza ovens, surf equipment, house refills and beach gear
• Read messages from Three Mile Beach and contact head office
• View menus for Chomp, the onsite gastro beach bar
• View events within the local area, automatically populated via a 3rd party events platform
• Access information about Three Mile Beach and the surrounding area

We started out by creating wireframes to set the structure of the app, based on prioritising the functionality available to guests. Once this phase was complete, we created design concepts and put together an interactive prototype which enabled the team at Three Mile Beach to navigate through the designs as if they were using an app.

Once the designs were signed off, we then developed the application, ensuring it was supported on various tablets as a final decision on what tablet to install in the beach houses had not been made. We set up a WordPress installation separate to the app which allows Three Mile Beach to edit all content within the app.

Once the development was complete, we made our way down to Three Mile Beach and installed the app on each tablet within the 15 beach houses.

The result

Feedback from guests staying at Three Mile Beach has been really positive. Over 110 'extras' orders have been made within the app and that figure continues to grow. The team at Three Mile Beach are able to update all content within the app and they are able to remotely manage the settings of every tablet within a centralised system, preventing the need to update tablet settings individually.
